Order and update indoor maps

A comprehensive set of tools permits HERE to produce indoor maps quickly and at scale, while keeping costs to a minimum, resulting in highly competitive pricing.

When ordering a new indoor map or ordering an update to an existing map, you must send an email to venues.support@here.com. The email must include all the information listed in the following sections.

Warning

Contact your account manager or HERE to generate a contract for the indoor mapping service and support for the indoor maps.

Order an indoor map

Indoor maps are produced for you by HERE. To place an order for a new map, you will need floor plans of your venue and some basic information about the building, such as the street address. For further details, see the following section for an overview of the required information.

Having analyzed your information, HERE will contact you with a quoted price for producing the indoor map, along with any further questions. After agreeing to the quoted price, HERE will start producing the map. You will get a notification by email when the indoor map is available and published. Your indoor maps will appear on the Indoor portal, ready for use in your applications and services.

Update an indoor map

You can place an order to HERE if a change or an update is needed to an indoor map. A change includes such updates as:

  • A wall is removed
  • An occupant of a shop space changes
  • A meeting room name changes

The ordering process is similar to the process for ordering a new indoor map.

Indoor map order process

The indoor map order process starts when you issue an order. Your order will be assigned a request ID and you will receive a quote. The lead time to produce the map depends of the current queue, but it is typically around two weeks. HERE may ask additional details about the venue if some details are unclear or missing from the order. When the indoor map is ready, it will be available for you in the Indoor portal on the HERE platform. As a result, the indoor map status will change from pending to ready, and you will also get a notification that your order is complete. You can then use the indoor map without taking any further actions.

Information needed for an indoor map order

The following sections list the information required to order a new map. The fields support UTF-8 characters, and there are no hard limits for the character count. However, HERE recommends that you do not include entries with excessive characters, such as when providing map names.

Map name

The name of the indoor map. HERE supports a UTF-8 character set and does not have a hard limit for the name length. However, HERE recommends that you do not include entries with excessive characters and instead use shorter names whenever possible.

This mandatory information is visible on the Indoor portal and included in the indoor map data itself.

Map type

Type of map based on building type. Examples include the following building types:

  • Office
  • Airport
  • Parking garage
  • Hospital
  • Hotel

Building address

Address of your venue. Please provide the full address along with the street address, city, and country.

Coordinates

Approximate center point of your venue.

This is optional information, and allows HERE to ensure that the indoor map is correctly referenced to the outdoor map.

Level count

Number of levels, floors, or stories in your indoor map.

This is recommended information, and helps HERE ensure that all the building drawings have been received.

Building dimensions

Building measurements, such as 103 x 58 square meters.

This is recommended information, and helps HERE ensure that the building drawings are correctly scaled.

Additional information

Any other relevant information about the order or map.

Floor plan files

Uploaded floor plan files. HERE supports a wide variety of file formats, including CAD, PDF, and SVG.

Contact person

The person who issued the order.

Information needed for the indoor map update

Indoor map ID and what needs to be updated.

Indoor map ID

Unique indoor map ID issued by HERE, available in the Indoor portal.

Changes to be applied

Any indoor map information that needs to be changed.

Additional information

Any other relevant information about the changes or updates.
