Client activity tracking

Your applications using HERE Geocoding and Search can contribute to the improvement of the future search and discovery experience of your users. For this, you can add to your queries the necessary headers. This will anonymously capture search request and result data. This feedback improves the API's statistical model of relationships between places, and candidate ranking and recommendations. The data is also useful debugging technical issues.

To send tracking data with each application request, follow these suggested guidelines.

X-Forwarded-For Header

The X-Forwarded-For header should be provided in-line with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Forwarded HTTP Extension specification.

If requests from the client application are generated on a server instead of the user's device, the server should send the client's IP address in the X-Forwarded-For header.

User-Agent Header

Refer to providing the user-agent header to the API in the HTTP Request Headers Overview.
